GAPSK School Exam

The GAPSK Examination Committee welcomes schools to apply for the “GAPSK In-School Exam (Internet Exam)”. Holding school-based examinations will help schools conduct a unified assessment of students’ Mandarin learning, and can set the date and time of the examinations according to the school calendar, so that students can take the examinations at their original schools.

Passing the GAPSK test will help the school and teachers to better understand the Mandarin level of the students in the school, and find out the learning difficulties and common mistakes of the students, so as to strengthen the teaching and practice in this area, and establish clear teaching goals. Elementary Examination 

“GAPSK Kindergarten (Elementary) Putonghua Proficiency Exam” focuses on assessing the ability to listen and speak Putonghua through games. There is no reading part at the elementary level, which reduces the difficulty of the test and is more suitable for kindergarten students who are beginners in Mandarin. The test content is divided into two parts: listening and speaking, and the total answering time is 8 minutes.

Intermediate Examination:

“GAPSK Kindergarten (Intermediate) Putonghua Proficiency Exam” mainly uses games to assess candidates’ listening, speaking and reading abilities. The “reading” part includes reading sentences and self-introduction. In addition to testing the candidates’ Putonghua pronunciation, the part of the sentence read aloud also requires candidates to have certain literacy skills. The test consists of three parts: listening, speaking and reading aloud. The total answering time is 10 minutes.

“GAPSK Kindergarten (Advanced) Putonghua Proficiency Exam” Aims to use activity games to evaluate candidates’ listening, speaking, and reading skills, and integrate the test into games. “Reading”, including reading short sentences and children’s songs. Different from the elementary and intermediate levels, the “Advanced” exam can better assess candidates’ knowledge of Chinese characters and pronunciation. The test content is divided into three parts: listening, speaking and reading aloud. The total answering time is 10 minutes.

Certificate:

Each grade of the GAPSK Kindergarten Putonghua Proficiency Exam is subdivided into two grades, namely Excellence I and II, Outstanding I and II, Superior I and II, and Satisfactory I and II. And the number of Star is used as a method to express achievements, which is easy for children to accept and has an encouraging effect.

Level Certificates

From February 1, 2022, student who scores 60 or more in the exam will receive a transcript and a certificate of “GAPSK Kindergarten Mandarin Proficiency Exam” jointly issued by the Institute of Language Education of Peking University and the GAPSK Examination Committee.

Awards:

i. Best Instructor Award: Based on the total average score of the student from the school and teach by the instructor.
ii. Excellent training centre/schools: The scoring criteria are based on the total score of the participating students from the schools/training institutions.

Instructions for candidates

  1. The Association strictly prohibits cheating and any book of filming or video recording. Parents or any third party are not allowed to give any reminder to candidates, such as: command, mouth shape, movement, etc.
  2. Before starting the test, please make sure there are no notes, books or any electronic devices on your desk. If the examiner or examination staff finds these items on the table, it will be regarded as cheating.
  3. During the exam, candidates should not leave the camera area.
  4. During the test, do not manually close the browser or test program.
  5. If (1), (2), (3), (4) occur, the Association will cancel the examination qualification, immediately suspend the examination, not recognize the score, and will not arrange for a make-up examination and will not issue a refund.
  6. Please keep the lens device fixed to avoid vibration, shaking or movement. The candidate’s face and upper body must be clearly recorded.
  7. Candidates are required to answer all questions in this test paper within a time limit, and points will be deducted for answering late.
  8. In order to protect candidates, the entire examination process will be recorded by the system.
  9. Please take the test in a well-lit and quiet area.

 

 


 

Terms and Conditions

  1. Please make sure that candidates have sufficient autonomy and concentration in the online test. If the test is not possible due to personal factors of the candidate. The Association will not take any responsibility for this and will not arrange for make-up exams or refunds. These factors include, but are not limited to: inability to concentrate, emotional instability, or crying.
  2. If the above (1) occurs, and the examination staff of the Association assesses that the candidate cannot take the examination within a short time, the examination will be suspended and no make-up arrangements will be made.
  3. GAPSK Kindergarten Mandarin Proficiency Test. The online test is only conducted on the GAPSK Exam website and the online test APP. Candidates must download the appropriate APP in advance to take the test.
  4. Candidates are required to log in to the GAPSK Exam platform within the specified time and carefully read and abide by the instructions and rules of the examination.
  5. Candidates must ensure that they have the appropriate hardware, software and network equipment required for the GAPSK online test when taking the GAPSK online test.
  6. The questions and mode of the online test are based on the GAPSK Kindergarten Mandarin Proficiency Test syllabus and mock test questions, but the content and test mode may be slightly different from the physical test due to the type of questions.
  7. If you are unable to take the exam due to any force majeure, we will not be responsible for it and will make a refund. The above factors include, but are not limited to: loss of connection to the GAPSK Exam platform or your device; hardware or software failures or problems; and/or network connection, computer or system failures or problems and sudden power outages.
  8. If the above (7)) occurs, and the examination staff confirms that it cannot be repaired within a short period of time, the examination will be suspended. The Association will arrange make-up examinations as appropriate.
    Candidates who take the online test will receive the corresponding grades of the online test scores and certificates.
  9. The Association strictly prohibits cheating and any form of filming or video recording. Parents or any third party are not allowed to give any form of reminder to candidates, such as: command, mouth shape, movement, etc. Once found, the Association reserves the right to cancel the examination qualification, immediately suspend the examination, not recognize its score, and will not make a make-up examination and refund.
  10. If the Association finds that a candidate has repeatedly cheated during the exam, the Association reserves the right to blacklist the candidate, and the candidate may not be able to participate in any activities organized by GAPSK.
  11. The Association will retain the GAPSK Kindergarten Mandarin Proficiency Test. The final decision of the network test.

Q: What can I do if I fail to attend the test on the day of the online test?
A: Please submit an application to the Association by email. The application period closes seven days before the test day, and no changes to the test date will be accepted after that. If candidates are unable to attend the exam on the same day (regardless of illness, school activities and any academic competitions, etc.), the Association can waive the administrative fee once, but only once and must submit supporting documents. If you are unable to attend the exam on the same day due to any personal reasons, the Association will charge HK$300 as an administrative fee.

Q: Can I transfer to the Exam in person group after I apply for the test?
A: Yes, if the examination period for the exam in person has not yet expired or is not full, and it is limited to one time only.
However, the application must be made three weeks before the day of exam in person, and an administration fee of $300 must be paid.

Q: Can I request a refund after applying for the exam?
A: There are no refunds for all exams.

Q: How long does the online trial take?
A: It usually takes about fifteen to twenty minutes.

Q: What can I do if I encounter technical problems while taking the online exam?
A: If the above situation occurs, the staff will immediately try to communicate with the parents and assist in repairing the problem. If the staff confirms that the test cannot be repaired within a short period of time, the exam will be suspended, and that will arrange a make-up exam as appropriate. The Association will not take any responsibility for this and will make a refund.

Q: Can parents accompany candidates during the exam?

Q: Is there anything I should pay special attention to before the online exam?
A:

Q: Will taking the online test with 3G network affect the quality of the test?
A:Candidates are not suggested to use 3G network. Because the network test requires a relatively large network speed, using a 3G network may cause the network speed to be unstable. The Association expects candidates to use wired or wireless broadband networks to conduct the exam. If parents insist on using 3G network to take the test and the test process is affected, the Association will not take any responsibility for this, and will not arrange for make-up exam and refund.

Q: In what language are the exams conducted?
