The 54th GAPSK Hong Kong Mandarin Recitation Competition

Eligibility: All school-aged students in kindergarten, primary school or equivalent education level are welcome to apply.

Self-selected Recitation: Contestants can create their own creations. If they use other people’s works, they must indicate the title and author and have been approved by the Association. If there is a copyright dispute, the contestant must handle it by himself, which has nothing to do with the Association. Please submit a copy of the recitation together with the registration form before the deadline, or submit it to the online registration system. The selection of materials must be based on healthy and progressive themes. The quality of the materials will affect the evaluation of scores. The Association reserves the right not to accept inappropriate materials, and contestants must not object. The number of words in the recitation must be more than 25 words (excluding the title), and the total length cannot exceed 3 minutes. |

Application Methods
| Online Registration Click here to watch the registration system teaching of GAPSK Mandarin Recitation Competition
Participants can use the online registration system to register before the deadline, and then upload the following documents and payment receipts to the participant’s online registration account within three days after the online registration. Late submissions will not be processed. 1) Copy of student handbook or student ID card with photo; Participants must upload documents and pay the fee before the deadline. If the upload and payment are not completed before the deadline, the Association reserves the right not to accept the application. Note: The online registration system will be closed in the evening of the registration deadline. As the registration deadline is approaching, the server for online registration may be very busy due to the large number of registrations. Participants should submit their applications as early as possible to ensure that the online registration process is successfully completed before the deadline. |

- There are champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up, excellence award and outstanding award for each category of the competition. (The specific awards will be judged according to the scores of the contestants)

- Best Instructor Award: Based on the total score of the student in class winning projects (calculated based on the student’s first prize: 16, 1st runner-up: 11, 3rd runner-up: 7, excellent: 4, outstanding: 3).
- The winning organization or teacher of the Best Mentoring Award will be notified individually by email or in writing within 6-8 weeks after the competition.
- Best Training Institution Award: Based on the total score of the participating students mobilized by the school/training institution as the scoring criterion.
- If the contestants win the championship, their instructors can also receive a certificate (champion instructor award). Each award-winning mentor will receive a maximum of one certificate.
- Instructors need to go to the office to collect the certificate in person or apply for the express certificate service by themselves.
- (Note: Participants must complete the information on the training institution and instructor in the registration form in order to be eligible for the award. The Association will not accept applications for supplementary information after July 6, 2022.)
Introduction
In 2010, GAPSK cooperated again with the Institute of Chinese Language Education of Peking University to establish an authoritative Mandarin recitation competition, and invited many senior educators to serve as consultants and judges for the recitation competition, which received strong support from parents and educators. The competition covers all grades from kindergarten to primary school. The grading criteria for each group fully consider the proficiency of the participants in Putonghua, and follow the following five aspects: the accuracy of Putonghua pronunciation, the clarity and fluency of speech, emotional engagement and appeal, facial expressions The harmony of gestures and movements, and the pleasantness of voice and modalities.
With the light-hearted and pleasant form of performance, the GAPSK Mandarin Recitation Competition aims to cultivate students’ cognition and understanding of Chinese culture and improve their language level. At the same time, it encourages students to help improve their recitation performance through observation and communication, and inspire students’ artistic talent. Enhance learning interest. The winning contestants will receive trophies, flags and certificates jointly issued by the Executive Committee of the GAPSK Mandarin Recitation Competition and the Institute of Language Education of Peking University, which will not only enhance students’ self-confidence, but also add advantages to their further studies.
Background
In order to further promote the learning of Mandarin and the use of Mandarin expression skills, GAPSK and Peking University Institute of Language Education once again cooperated with the Institute of Language Education, Peking University, and received support from the academic community. We were honored to invite a number of experienced senior figures in the education sector to serve as consultants and judges for the GAPSK Mandarin Recitation Competition. Make the game more credible and recognized. The competition is divided into solo recitation and parent-child recitation. The groups cover all grades from kindergarten to primary school. The grading criteria of each group refer to the corresponding level of Putonghua as the scoring standard, and are scored according to the following five aspects: the accuracy of Putonghua pronunciation and the speed of speech. Fluency, emotional engagement and appeal, harmony of facial expressions, gestures and movements, and pleasing voices and modalities.

- To collect the certificate or trophy, you must present the proof of participation (the proof of participation includes: confirmation notice/participation certificate/scoring sheet/copy of the scoring sheet) and the identity document of the contestant (the identity document must be a document with a photo and full name in Chinese, Example: Handbook/Student ID/Transport ID)
- Remarks: The Association reserves the right to refuse to distribute certificates or trophies if the participation certificate and the identity documents of the participants are not presented.
Note: All certificates or trophies must be collected within the collection date, otherwise the award will be deemed to be forfeited. There will be a $300 administrative fee for reclaiming.

GAPSK Beneficiaries
In order to help more groups in need in the society, the Executive Committee of the GAPSK Recitation Competition specially invited charitable organisations from all walks of life to carry out publicity activities in the GAPSK Mandarin Recitation Competition. At the same time, it is also hoped that charitable activities can make more people care about the needs of different groups in society and cultivate positive values in students.
